This is probably my shortest visit to Bali, I was there only for few hours to catch the plane to Lombok. Fortunately I had a chance to stop and took some pictures of Ngaben preparation… not the actual cremation ceremony though due to the limited time I have… here are the picts
- Crossing Bali Strait by boat from Banyuwangi (Java island). The boat can carry around 20-30 car / bus
- Arrived at Bali, we need to show our ID card…
- I come across Ngaben ceremony that about to start. Ngaben is cremation ceremony to send the deceased to the afterlife.
- Friends and relatives pay respect to the deceased
- Friends and relative in Black and white
- The Men have the same attire, Black and Batik
- No tears are shed… The deceased is only temporary sleeping
- Pecalang is the traditional Balinesse police… some say they have higher authority than the real police
- The offerings to the Gods
- Close family and neighbor bring the offering
- The Coffin or the Vehicle to reach the afterlife
