Stalling

Stalling is a kind of procrastination, may be worst may be not… I don’t know… To me,  stalling usually related with (relatively big) decision making while procrastination usually not related to big decision making.

When I am putting off cleaning my desk, or not paying my credit card dues that’s  procrastination. When I am stuck at my “stinky” job and do nothing about it… that’s stalling.

The good (or bad) thing is,  we can live relatively comfortable in it. In fact the by stalling things, we defend the status-quo, the most comfortable place in the world and the best thing is we can still have sense of achievement or seen that way

  • We can do day to day job, doing technical stuff  when what we really need to do is leading
  • We can show up in the office 9-5 without fail when we need to do is networking
  • We can continue / re-enter  the school when we need to do is finding a (new) job / opportunity
  • We can blog when what we need to do is writing magazine articles

The list can go on and on… you can not argue that doing day to day job, show up in the office without fail, re-enter school and blogging is a bad thing to do… its not bad at all… but deep inside we know, we actually need to do something else bigger than that.

Is it always a bad thing..? not necessarily… we may be doing it because we do not want a sudden and abrupt move jeopardizing our current rhythm.

Re-enter the school for example, it can broaden our knowledge and networking, give us new perspectives and may lead to a new exciting job… Or blogging for example, it can be a “testing the water” for our potentially controversial  piece of article…

The worst stalling of all is… Not doing anything… and do not confuse with the concept of the “art of doing nothing” its totally different concept.. :)

Buy Happiness

We can buy happiness, it is in fact one of the reason why we work so hard… This following is my personal justification on buying things

  • Celebrate our wins. Big wins big celebrations, small wins small celebrations
  • Books… If we like reading… do not skimming on paperbacks, its for students. Consider the soft copy if we want lighter weight
  • Gym membership… exercise give us similar substance as dope… think as we are buying a healthy dope… Only if we really going to use it though, otherwise better donate the money to an orphanage
  • Hobby.. Buy a good camera, stick golf, cars, watch or whatever we can buy with spare money… No point buying expensive stuff with loan or insurance money.
  • Vacation, we need break from routine… and come back to work with wide smile on our face…

Point is… buy happiness if we can, life is too short anyway.. But plan it carefully, or else…. our life will be shorter  than it should be…  :D

Menghindari pencurian Pulsa

The industry consists of about 400 content provider companies that employ about 2,000 people and generate around Rp 4 trillion ($450 million) in revenue annually from more than 15 million customers, Yusuf said.

Breaking the Rule(s)

What do you call someone who understand the rules but consciously breaking it…? we have two names for them:

  1. Criminals
  2. Artists

the difference of the two is: The first one theyare breaking the rules for personal gain at the cost of others, while the second one they are breaking the rules without hurting anyone. You may be never be an artist if you break the rules without knowing it, you can however, become a criminal by breaking rules regardless you know it or not.

Breaking rules consciously is what make an abstract painting have a higher value than a 3 years old kid who paint randomly ( although sometime artist use a 3 years baby to paint their masterpiece).

Look at Picasso for example, he break most of rules, but still, we regard him as the greatest artist in century, he can paint according to the rules alright, but he chooses not to, he wants to paint his expression if it need to break some rules lets be it. This is what he wants doesn’t matter what others want.

Does he break all rules he knows…? I do not think so, he still maintain some rules to keep the color balance for example… so even he break rules, he knows exactly which one to break and which one to keep. Some who understand and can appreciate it, will be willing to  pay dearly for his paintings.

We can be an artist anywhere, in marketing, in class, in finance company etc… but we have two rules for it

1. We should understand the rules completely

2. Break the wrong rules, we can go to jail….

Buku Baru Tentang Dahlan Iskan

Bagaimana menurut anda..? :)
